Eight events down, DanielSUP leads — but with 270 points separating the top five, the Meo Portugal Pro could reshape the whole board.
Eight events. Eight different venues, two different continents, and the full range of conditions the Championship Tour throws at surfers each year — from the cobalt perfection of Teahupo'o to the punishing slabs of Margaret River. And after all of it, the GLOT Fantasy League remains genuinely undecided. Which is exactly how you want it headed into Portugal.
DanielSUP leads the league with 4,993.38 points, and while that 126-point cushion over Cardiff Cobras looks comfortable on paper, one event can swing several hundred points in a league where every roster decision matters. Bells Beach to Fiji has separated the field into three tiers, but the top tier is tight enough that swapping even one or two surfers between now and the final heat at Supertubos could mean the difference between winning the season and finishing middle of the pack.
The top of the table has a familiar competitive shape: a small cluster of high scorers who've drafted well all season, made smart holds during the slow events, and managed to stay consistent even when the CT went somewhere their picks struggled. DanielSUP has done that better than anyone. Cardiff Cobras and beacon barney have been right there.
ASP sits fourth at 4,742.65, just 20 points ahead of GoodLuck in fifth. The separation between 4th and 10th is only 126 points — a figure that, in fantasy surfing terms, is essentially one good surfer having a good event. Nobody in that tier can relax.
The 2026 CT has been nothing short of eventful. Miguel Pupo opened the year with a Bells victory, George Pittar won at Margaret River, and Ethan Ewing finally got a Gold Coast result. The women's side has seen Carissa Moore re-establish herself as the dominant force, taking victories in both New Zealand and El Salvador.
Tahiti was the high drama moment of the year — Seth Moniz threading barrels on a day when Teahupo'o was as heavy as it gets. Anyone who had Moniz in their lineup that week made serious ground. And then Fiji went to Cole Houshmand, who edged out a final that could have gone several ways.
Erin Brooks has been the women's story of the second half of the season, back-to-back wins at Tahiti and Fiji cementing her as someone who either you're drafting at full value, or you're watching someone else score big.
Fifth place with one event to go — or near the end of the run — is a position that requires forward thinking rather than a defensive crouch. The math is pretty simple: with roughly 270 points separating GoodLuck from first, a clean Portugal event with the right surfers locked in could realistically crack the podium. A wrong event won't knock anyone out of the top ten, but it won't close the gap either.
Supertubos is a right-hander. It rewards power surfing, familiarity with hollow beach break, and competitors who tend to show up in Europe. That context is as much about roster management as it is about enthusiasm for the venue.
The event window opens mid-October. The Atlantic swell season should deliver. And the fantasy standings suggest there are no throwaway events left.
